A customer called to report that his wife’s car had been stolen at about 4:06am. The Nissan Murano was driven out of their Wuye residence which had been invaded by a large number of armed robbers. They also carted away other valuable items like jewelry, and phones.
At about 4:50 am, the vehicle was shut down around Mpape Junction, near the Murtala Moh’d way, Maitama Junction.
The car was recovered at about 5:40am on Murtala Mohamed Way with the aid of the Nigeria police.

Customer complained that vehicle was moved from initial parking space in office environs. The car had been parked for so long without a car battery. The report came in at about 12.58am. The office security guard was nowhere to be found and left the gate wide open. He was the prime suspect. The security guard had stolen the official car with other items, laptops. He broke the store and carted away with many items.
The Official vehicle was tracked down to Idioro street, Ajah, Lagos state. Vehicle was recovered with the aid of the Nigeria police early that morning.

The vehicle was stolen at Federal Secretariat, Abuja on the 26th of March, 2009. The customer called the control room of COTEK to report the theft event at 3.20pm. The vehicle was immediately tracked and shut down in Suleja, Niger State. At about 6.00pm, the car was fully recovered with the timely help of the the Nigerian Police in the vicinity of a Hotel. This recovery also necessitated the recovery of 2 other stolen vehicles that were packed in same hotel premises. Apparently, it was the den of the thieves.

At about 11:37pm Saturday night, our customer called to request that their TOYOTA HIACE BUS be located because a newly employed driver had taken it that morning form Abuja and had not returned. She also said she got report that the driver had falsely said he was on his way to Lagos to pick her up from a conference of which she had no knowledge about.
The vehicle was placed on tracking & close watch till morning when it was tracked down to Lekki, in Lagos. The Madam was contacted by our Lagos staff and they went in company of Armed Police men to the area. The area was thoroughly combed and the car was found park at one of the houses in the estate, with the colour changed and number plate changed as well. The driver had absconded. & the house owner was apprehended.

On the night of Tuesday 6th January, 2008, the Call Centre received a call at about 7:04 P.M with information that a vehicle had been stolen earlier at Ogere in Ogun State. The robbers held the driver hostage and dropped him off at redeem after confirming that there was no Security in the Car.
The Car was placed on tracking and shut down at about 8:20 P.M, at Iwo in Oyo State. The Control Centre & the Police coordinated Rescue and the car was recovery by 10pm.

On the night of Monday 22 December, 2008, the Call Centre received a call at about 7:38 P.M with information that a vehicle had been stolen about 30 minutes earlier at Awka in Anambra State.
A decision was made not to shut the engine of the car down because the driver of the vehicle had been taken Hostage and his life might have been placed at great risk. Instead, the car was placed on real-time tracking and updated to know its current location throughout the night.
The Call Centre Coordinated Police rescue and recovery and at about 11:20 A.M on 23/12/2008, got confirmation that the vehicle had been recovered and that it was now with the Police. On a less joyous note, (the driver of the recovered vehicle had still not been found and they did not know his where about). Even though Sad, but we thank God.

Still Missing
At about 5.30am on Monday the 15th of December 2008, a vehicle Toyota Corolla was reported stolen at gunpoint from the user in Ogun state. The robbery took place around 9pm on Sunday 14th of December.
When the incident was reported to the Lagos Office, who immediately put a call through to the control center to notify them about the incidence. The theft details were very shady and unclear making it difficult to perform an immediate Tracking.
The vehicle has not still been located.

At about few minutes to 10pm one Thursday evening a customer with vehicle model Honda Rav4 2005 came in company of her friend with a distress call that her vehicle was snatched from her husband that evening at about 9:15pm around Sagamu and he was dropped off towards Benin axis of the Sagamu-Benin express way. She claimed that it was reported to the police around the environs there and documents were requested of which the chasis number was given to the police.
The Vehicle was recovered by the police at Agoiwoye in Ogun State the Following day.

At exactly 6pm on Wednesday 3rd of September 2008, a gang of robbers all dressed in police uniforms, attacked a Hiace bus with the above registration number at Okene in Kogi State. The passengers in the vehicle were all robbed and dropped off the road; the driver was given a thoroughly beating as the robbers eventually left with the bus. Information about the incident got to COTEK at about 8:30pm, with inaccurate car detail. The vehicle was tracked and the engine disabled along Lokoja in Kogi State at 9:30pm. After giving the police information of the exact location of the bus, it was recovered at about 2:17pm Thursday afternoon.

At 10:12pm on the 19th of June, 2008, the control room received a distress call from a Customer who said her car had been stolen in front of Tantalizers fast food in Garki2. Immediately, the car was tracked down to its location and the engine was immediately shut down, time of shut down- 10:27pm. Thereafter, a challenge with the radio band between COTEK control room and PASS control room caused a slight delay, but immediately contact was established the patrol team swung into action and moved to the location of the vehicle, which was along Murtala Mohammed Expressway, heading towards the outskirts of Abuja. The vehicle was recovered at 11:07pm. The car was not vandalized, but the car keys could not be found, the spare was sent for and the car delivered to its owner.

The vehicle was stolen on the Aba-Umuahia road at gun point. The theft was reported to COTEK at 1:44pm and the vehicle was shut down at 1:47pm. Immediately contact was made with ACP Ahmed Yusuf of Zone 7 Police Command via PASS, he dispatched a patrol team to the shut down site immediately, while the owners of the vehicle also arrived the scene with another team of policemen. The robbers had abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene of the crime. The vehicle was recovered barely an hour after the theft. The vehicle was recovered in good shape by the owners of the vehicle and the police force.

The car was stolen on a Saturday morning. The customer did well to contact COTEK control centre base immediately. On furnishing the COTEK staff with details, the vehicle was shutdown. The customers’ wife and driver were robbed of the M class Mercedes Benz. The wife contacted her husband who in turn called COTEK control centre and gave details of his car and the robbery. The car was shut down after about 3 hours due to the fact that the robbers drove the car into a forest with no GSM service. Immediately the device got service, messages were sent out by the device and in less than six (6) minutes the car was shut down, traced and recovered. Not before a gun fight with the police. The car was intact on recovery.

Unfortunately, the owner of the vehicle did not contact COTEK immediately the robbery was carried out and by the time he did, the car was unavailable to be traced. All efforts to trace the car were futile. Reasons for this include: The car could have been driven to a no network area. Unfortunately, the car did not respond to the last ring checks and that could be another cause for the failure to recover the vehicle.
